Privacy Policy

Restart (Reg 2025/700827/07, "Restart", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through restart.co.za, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

Restart is the "responsible party" for personal information collected through the Website, as defined in POPIA.

Personal Information

• Full name, delivery and billing address, and vehicle details you provide
• Contact information — email address, phone number and WhatsApp number
• Account login details, if you register a customer account

Payment Information

Card and Instant EFT payments are processed directly by PayFast. Restart does not collect or store your full card number, expiry date or CVV — these are captured securely on PayFast's own PCI-DSS-compliant payment page. For manual EFT payments, we retain proof-of-payment references (such as your bank reference number) to reconcile your order.

Device & Browser Information

When you browse the Website, our hosting and analytics tools automatically collect technical information such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, and pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location derived from IP address.

Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies to run the cart and checkout, and — only with your consent — functional, performance, analytics and marketing cookies to improve the Website and measure how it is used. See our Cookie Policy for full detail and how to manage your preferences.

Customer Accounts, Order History & Communication Records

If you create an account or place an order, we keep a record of your orders, products purchased, delivery details, and any support communication with us (email, phone, WhatsApp or the contact form) so that we can assist you with future queries, warranty and returns requests.

Marketing

If you opt in to marketing communications (for example, via a newsletter sign-up or checkout consent), we use your email address to send you offers and updates about Restart. You may opt out at any time — see Customer Rights below.

We collect and process your personal information to:

• Process, dispatch and deliver your orders, and handle returns or warranty claims
• Verify payments and prevent fraud
• Communicate with you about your order, account or enquiries
• Provide customer support, including fitment and vehicle compatibility advice
• Improve the Website through aggregated analytics
• Send marketing communications, only where you have consented
• Comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations

Our legal basis for processing under POPIA is that the processing is necessary to perform a contract with you (fulfilling your order), is required to comply with a legal obligation (such as tax record-keeping), is necessary for our legitimate business interests (such as fraud prevention and site analytics, weighed against your rights), or is based on your specific consent (such as marketing communications and non-essential cookies), which you may withdraw at any time.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to deliver our service, and always with operators bound by appropriate confidentiality and security obligations:

Courier Partners

Your name, delivery address and contact number are shared with our courier partners solely to deliver your order and provide tracking updates.

Payment Processor (PayFast)

Order value and your contact details are shared with PayFast (Pty) Ltd to process card and Instant EFT payments securely. PayFast processes this information as an independent responsible party under its own privacy policy.

We may also share information with our website hosting, email and analytics service providers (each acting as an operator on our behalf), or where required by law, a court order, or to protect Restart's legal rights.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to customer data, and secure hosting — to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. No online system is completely secure; if you have reason to believe your interaction with the Website is no longer secure, contact us immediately.

We retain order and transaction records for as long as required by South African tax and consumer protection legislation (generally five years), and account or enquiry information for as long as your account is active or as needed to resolve any outstanding warranty, returns or support matter. Marketing data is retained until you opt out. Where information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Be informed about what personal information we hold about you and why
• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate or outdated personal information
• Request deletion or destruction of personal information we no longer have a lawful basis to retain
• Object to processing of your personal information for direct marketing at any time
• Withdraw consent previously given, without affecting processing already carried out
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your rights have been infringed

Access & Deletion Requests

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, email sales@restartauto.co.za with the subject line "POPIA Request". We will respond within a reasonable time and in any event within the timeframes required by POPIA, and may need to verify your identity before actioning your request. Marketing Opt-Out

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also opt out at any time by emailing sales@restartauto.co.za with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line. Opting out of marketing does not affect transactional communications about an order in progress.

Restart has not appointed a separate Information Officer. In terms of POPIA, the owner/operator of the business is therefore the deemed Information Officer for all requests relating to your personal information.
